News & Alert
Following the guidance shared by the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) on April 10, 2025, regarding recent federal immigration actions which adversely impacted Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS) records , we are pleased to share an important update.
For the small number of currently enrolled Brown students and recent graduates on post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) or STEM OPT extension opportunities whose SEVIS records were terminated earlier this month, we are happy to report that all of their records were reactivated in SEVIS over the weekend. Despite this positive development, OISSS will continue to follow its established protocols of daily SEVIS record checks and will notify any affected students and scholars immediately.
Brown University is home to more than 2,700 international students and scholars, who enrich our academic community through their contributions to research, teaching, learning, campus life and the local community. As a leading research institution, Brown recognizes the critical importance of supporting students and scholars who bring diverse perspectives, knowledge and experiences to advance academic excellence.
