Immigration Attorney Webinar

Events

The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) is pleased to announce a webinar with immigration attorneys Megan Parker-Johnson and Prasant Desai from Iandoli Desai & Cronin P.C. to provide important updates on recent federal visa and immigration policies and proposed changes.
Topics will include:
  • the proposed rule about eliminating Duration of Status (D/S) for F-1 students, J-1 students and scholars, and their dependents. Although the rule is not yet final or in effect, proposed changes include reducing grace period, limiting study period to 4 years, and eliminating pursuit of lateral degrees of study.
  • proposed changes to the H-1B lottery process as well as trends in H-1B applications.
  • recent U.S. Department of State, and U.S. Embassies and Consular Offices visa-related processing policy changes, such as the travel ban; nonimmigrant visa (NIV) interview limitations and restrictions; visa interview waiver elimination; and, enhanced vetting and increased scrutiny of social media accounts.
The speakers will provide an overview of the issues, discuss potential implications for F-1 students and J-1 students and scholars, and answer audience questions. Please note: The webinars will not be recorded. Each session will cover the same material, so we ask that you register for one time slot.
